Photography and rights
Every photograph is licensed to Chiopedia, public domain, or Creative Commons, credited to its author. Each was checked twice: the licence file by file, and the location by coordinates or Chios category — a name match alone is not evidence, and candidates in the Komi Republic and Santorini were rejected on exactly that test. Places without a photograph of their own borrow one from the same coast, captioned with what it actually shows.

The publisher's photographs and the plate proofs are bundled. Commons files are fetched when there is signal and fall back to the designed placeholder without it.
