Vrontados shore to Daskalopetra
Why walk it
An easy seaside walk to the rock-cut sanctuary that tradition calls Homer’s teaching seat.
The route
1Walk north along the Vrontados waterfront past the fishing moorings.
2Continue to the small bay below the sanctuary and take the steps up to the cut platform.
3Read the rock as what it is — an ancient rock-cut altar, probably of Cybele, rather than a literal classroom.
4Swim at the beach below before turning back.
